Users and roles
As many people and roles as the work requires.
Nobody is charged for having an account. You pay per enrollment or per member — never per login, and never for the people who run the courses.
Unlimited users
Add everyone. The bill does not move.
Instructors, assistants, writers and administrators cost nothing. A course with four staff and a course with one cost the same, so the number of people helping is a decision about the work rather than about the invoice.
- No per-seat charge, for any role
- Add and remove staff whenever the work changes
- What you pay for is enrollments, or active members

Students
They complete the course, and see their own results.
A student works through the lessons, answers the questions and sees their own progress and scores. They see nobody else's, and nothing about how the course is run.
- Their own progress, scores and feedback
- Picks up where they left off, on any device
- No password to remember — a link to their email signs them in

Instructors
One course, run end to end.
An instructor owns a course: they write it, decide who is on it, grade the work and read the reports. It is the only role that can do all four.
- Edit the course, its modules and its lessons
- Add and remove people, and see the register
- Grade written work and reply to it
- Copy the course to run it again, or elsewhere
- VIDEO Welcome and how this works
- READ Know your learners
- QUIZ Check your understanding
Grading assistants
They assist instructors in grading the results.
An assistant reads submitted work, scores it and writes back, and can see the register and the gradebook. They cannot change the content or who is enrolled in the course.
- Grade written work, with feedback
- See the register and the gradebook
- Cannot add or remove anybody
- Cannot edit the course
Strong opening. Try giving people a minute to think before the first question.
PASSEDCourse content collaborators
They write the course, and never see the learners.
A collaborator edits the course, its modules and its lessons. They cannot open the gradebook, see who is enrolled, or grade anything — so a subject expert or a writer can work on the material without being given the people.
- Edit courses, modules and lessons
- No access to the register or the gradebook
- Nothing to grade, and nothing to accidentally publish about a learner
REFLECTION
What will you try first with your own group?
Starting with names and one easy question.
Amara · learnerGood plan. Pair people up for that first question.
InstructorSite administrators
Somebody has to run the site.
A site admin manages people, pages, branding, billing and every course on the site. It is granted on one site and says nothing about any other — a site admin on yours is nobody on anybody else's.
- Every course, without being enrolled on any of them
- Settings, branding, billing and invitations
- Granted per site, never across the network
